Workshops for banks, insurers and wealthUse the data. Keep the customer.
For risk, learning and the people on the desk. Bring one workflow, the customer data it touches, and the person who is allowed to approve a tool.
- A live desk workflow
- Risk in the room
- In person or remote

Financial services
A regulated desk already has a rulebook
Financial services teams are already using tools on customer and transaction data, often outside the list anyone approved. A model output then gets treated as a decision because it arrived quickly and sounded sure. The session that helps is the one that picks a single workflow, writes what may enter a tool, and names the person who still makes the call.
NAB asked Collective Campus to train portfolio managers in data science, including Bayesian modelling and causality, so they could get to customer insight. BNP Paribas ran an introduction to data science with the APAC Training Campus, a customer experience session, and a learning academy series covering lean startup, agile, digital awareness and corporate innovation. Standard Chartered put a Hong Kong team through a half day on lean startup inside a regulated bank. NTUC Income, MetLife, IOOF and BNZ have run startup programmes, market tests and hackathons with us. The links below are how you buy the piece you need now.
- NAB: data science workshops for portfolio managers, in R, on Bayesian modelling and causality.
- BNP Paribas: data science for the APAC Training Campus, plus customer experience and a learning series that included lean startup and agile.
- Standard Chartered: a half day lean startup course for a Hong Kong team, taught for a large regulated bank.
- BNZ ran a startup matching programme so SME customers could get to capital and advice. NTUC Income ran startup matching for an insurer.
- MetLife tested whether a defined offer had a market, with ads and landing pages, before treating it as a decision to build. IOOF ran a hackathon with us.

What is in the way
Customer data outside the approved list
A credit note, a claims file or an advice draft gets pasted into whatever the browser suggests. The policy exists. The desk has a deadline.
A model output treated as the decision
The tool ranks, drafts or flags. Someone still has to own the customer outcome. Name that person before the pilot leaves the team that built it.
A catalogue of webinars
BNP Paribas covered several topics because the academy had several gaps. A team with one gap should buy one workshop and run it on live work.
Innovation that never meets risk
A hackathon can energise people, as it did at IOOF. It does not replace the person who has to approve the data, the vendor and the use.

AI governance
Classify the use, assign the owner, and approve it in language a risk committee can read. The point is a rule the desk can follow while a bounded test still goes ahead.

AI training
Practise on one workflow the team already runs: a credit memo, a claims note, an advice file. NAB trained portfolio managers on the data they already had. Same idea. The tool and the confidentiality rule sit in the room.

Critical thinking
Teach the desk when a model output is a prompt for a question, and when it is a draft someone has to check. This is the judgment layer under the data science work.

Lean startup and product sprint
Standard Chartered used a half day so a Hong Kong team could apply lean startup inside a regulated bank. MetLife used market tests before a build. Use this when a new offer is about to attract a budget.
Explore →
Design thinking
Use it on one customer problem a product owner can change: onboarding, a claim, a conversation with an adviser. The method is on the design thinking page.
Explore →
Customer experience
BNP Paribas asked for customer experience in financial services, including why each point in the relationship matters. Map one service with the people who run it and the people who own the system behind it.
Explore →
Agile
BNP Paribas included agile fundamentals in its academy series. Use this when the squads already run the rituals and the work still moves at the speed of the steering pack.

Productivity
The desk is full of meetings, inboxes and tools that do not talk to each other. This session is about the hours, on the work the team already has.

In the room
What the team should leave with
- One workflow, named, with the customer data it touches.
- What may enter an approved tool, and the decision the tool is forbidden to make.
- The risk owner who signs the pilot out of the sandbox.
- The cohort on that desk who will practise the rule in a workshop, and which one.

Questions from this kind of team
Do risk and compliance need to attend?
Yes if they can stop the pilot. A learning team can commission the day. The person who approves the data and the vendor has to be in the room when the rule is written.
Can this run on a live product or a live portfolio?
Yes. NAB used portfolio managers and the data they already work with. Standard Chartered used lean startup in a regulated setting. Bring the workflow and the constraint you already answer to.
We already ran a hackathon. What is left?
IOOF used a hackathon to shift attention. The next step is a single bet with an owner, a data rule and a date. That is the lean startup sprint when the gap is the bet, and the governance day when the gap is approval.
In person or remote?
Both. BNP Paribas used live webinars for a distributed academy. A desk that shares one office should take the room.

Legal
For partners, professional development and the lawyers who will use a tool on Monday. The session is built around a matter type you bring, and the rule for what may leave the file.

Government
For the executive who owns a service, the team who runs it, and the person who answers for information. Bring one resident service and the rule you already have.

Healthcare
For clinical governance, the operators, and the people who want a tool in the building. Bring one workflow and the information that must not leave the record.

Real estate
For asset, leasing and the people who brief the board. Bring one portfolio problem and the information in the lease file that a tool should not see.

Tell us the workflow and who can say no.
Name the team, the constraint, and whether you want the room or a remote session. We will tell you which workshop fits.
