Leadership Team AI Immersion
An immersion for the executive team on leading in the AI world. Quarterly briefings for the executive team and the board follow it.
- Executive team
- Quarterly executive briefing
- Quarterly board briefing

Why teams call
The problem
The executive team has approved the spend. The licences are live. In the same month, many of those leaders are not using the tools on their own work. Staff hear that AI matters, then watch the weekly meeting run as it did before. The signal is mixed. People follow the manager's calendar, not the announcement.
Section's January 2026 AI Proficiency Report measured that pattern. Employees whose managers expect AI use are 2.6 times more proficient than employees whose managers discourage it. Expectation shows up in the ask, in whether the leader uses the tool on a real document, and in what happens when someone brings a draft the tool helped to write.
A signed budget leaves that expectation unwritten. The board sees a spend line. The executive team has not yet said what it will ask of its managers, or what it will do itself. The immersion is the working session where that is written down. The quarterly briefings are where the executive team and the board come back to it.

The room
Who it is for
The executive team
The leaders whose questions and habits the rest of the organisation copies. They are in the immersion, they write the expectation, and they come back each quarter.
The board
Directors who need to see how the spend is being led. They take the quarterly briefing and a record of what the executive team committed to.
The managers below them
The people who will hear the new expectation and pass it into the week. The immersion gives them a clear ask, and a leader who is using the tool as well.
The work
What the program covers
- 01
Executive immersion
A working session for the executive team on how this team will lead, using the AI tools already in the business. Leaders do a piece of the work they will ask of others, so the ask and the habit match. The session ends with the expectation in writing.
- 02
The expectation
Each leader writes what they will ask of their teams, and what they will do themselves on their own work. The two lines sit together. Staff can see the request, and they can see the leader doing the same kind of work.
- 03
Executive briefing
Once a quarter, we brief the executive team on those commitments, on what has happened since, and on what to do next. The briefing is a working check, not a tour of new features.
- 04
Board briefing
Once a quarter, we brief the board on the same cadence. Directors see the expectations the executive team set, and what has moved since the last briefing.
Section, AI Proficiency Report, January 2026 found that employees whose managers expect AI use are 2.6 times more proficient than employees whose managers discourage it.
The shape
Format and duration
One immersion for the executive team, built around the tools already in the business. Leaders use those tools on a real piece of their own work, then write what they will ask of others and what they will do themselves.
After the immersion, the cadence is quarterly. One briefing for the executive team, and one briefing for the board, each quarter. Both briefings return to the commitments written in the room.
The check
How impact is measured
We write the expectations and the leader actions at the immersion, in the leaders' own words. That record is the baseline. Each quarterly briefing reads it back and notes what has happened since.
The check is whether the ask is still in force and whether leaders are still doing the work they said they would do. Section's finding is the reason the check sits with managers: employees whose managers expect AI use are 2.6 times more proficient than employees whose managers discourage it.
At the end
What you leave with
For each leader
A written expectation for their team, and a matching action they will take on their own work. Staff can be shown both. The mixed signal, spend approved and the tool unused by the people who approved it, has a written answer.
For the board
A quarterly briefing, and a record of what the executive team committed to. Directors can see the ask, the leader behaviour, and what changed since the previous quarter.
